Meet Michael Cundiff
Michael Cundiff is a certified nurse practitioner providing specialty care in the Neurosurgery One bone health, spine fracture and adult concussion clinics. Michael brings a background in law enforcement and hands-on critical care nursing to his work as a nurse practitioner.
Before joining Neurosurgery One, Michael worked at Rocky Mountain Infectious Disease providing nursing support and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), and in outpatient wound care at Healogics’ Porter Hospital location. His experience also includes supporting outpatient and inpatient programs at Highlands Behavioral Health Hospital and as Director of Nursing at Acaria Homecare, where he oversaw care for patients recovering from medical, surgical, and mental health conditions. He began his nursing career on the pulmonary unit at University of Colorado Hospital, caring for cardiothoracic, ENT, and pulmonary hypertension patients.
Michael’s path to nursing followed a 14-year career in law enforcement. He served as a law enforcement officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission before becoming a detective with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, where he investigated property, economic, and violent crimes. In between, he spent five years as owner and director of sales and marketing for a commercial landscaping franchise. That range of experience shapes how Michael approaches patient care: with steadiness, attentiveness, and a commitment to treating every person he serves with dignity.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Utica College and completed his Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner at Spring Arbor University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of South Florida. Michael lives in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where he has been active in his children’s school community, serving as Co-President and then President of the Copper Mesa Elementary School Dads Club.
